Raw PnL is before the protocol's charges on winning closes. Losses are capped at your margin; crossing the liquidation price loses all of it.

How the liquidation price is calculated

Every Papertrade position has a displayed liquidation (bust) price. The calculator mirrors the contract:

Without the buffer, a long at 100x would be wiped out by a 1% drop. The buffer, currently about 0.048% of price for BTC and ETH, moves the trigger slightly closer to your entry, so the 100x long is liquidated after about 0.95% instead.

Why the buffer matters more at high leverage

The buffer is a fixed share of the price, not of your margin. At 10x it barely changes anything (9.96% instead of 10%). At 1000x your whole margin only covers a 0.1% move, so the 0.048% buffer is almost half of it: liquidation comes after about 0.052%. A voluntary close just before that point would still return some margin, but once the price crosses the trigger the full margin is forfeited.

Reference table

Leverage$10 margin buysMove that liquidatesBTC at $80,000
10x$100≈ 9.96%≈ $7,965
50x$500≈ 1.95%≈ $1,562
100x$1,000≈ 0.95%≈ $762
500x$5,000≈ 0.15%≈ $122
1000x$10,000≈ 0.052%≈ $42

Long positions, using the current liquidation buffer of about 0.048%. Shorts are almost identical in the other direction. Note that $10 at 10x or 50x is below the $500 minimum position size, so in practice you would use more margin at low leverage.

Things the calculator does not show

Positions cannot be topped up with more margin. If you want more room, close and reopen with lower leverage, or open a smaller second position. See the risk management guide.
